PepHop

An AI girlfriend site: what it offers, what people say, and the numbers.

I bought a PepHop membership and tested it myself. Then I built a data-tracked profile of pephop.ai, refreshed monthly. Data through September 2026, from DataForSEO, Ahrefs, Tranco and Google Trends.

I bought a PepHop membership and tested it myself, feature by feature. I’m an AI girlfriend enthusiast and a data researcher, and both shape every page on this site: my own test tells me what the product does, but I don’t grade PepHop on my feel alone.

I weigh what its users publish, and I track it the way an analyst tracks a market, with a fixed set of indicators that show how big a platform is, whether it is growing or fading, and how it compares with every other AI girlfriend site I follow.

This page answers three questions in order: what you get, what people are saying, and what the numbers show. Part 1 comes from my own paid test and PepHop’s feature list and pricing, Part 2 from the videos, Reddit threads and press I read in full, and Parts 3 and 4 from traffic and search data. That is also how I rank the best AI girlfriend sites: tested first-hand, then judged by what users say and by the numbers.

Part 1 · What it offers

What PepHop offers

PepHop (pephop.ai) is an adult AI girlfriend platform: you create or pick a companion and talk to it. I bought a membership and tested it myself; this is what it offers, and Part 2 is what users say about each part of it.

Part 2 · What people say

What people say about PepHop

I bought a membership and tested PepHop myself, but I don’t take my own word for it. Many users have a more grounded view of a platform this popular than one reviewer can, and I would rather not give it too much or too little credit from my own intent, so I treat what users publish and ask as the main signal for how the brand, and each of its features, is regarded. On October 7, 2026 I found 9 YouTube videos with 10,755 views between them, 5 Reddit threads that Google surfaces, and 1 news articles in the last year. I did not stop at the titles: I read 4 video transcripts (4,625 words), 5 threads with their top comments and 2 articles in full, and classified each one as positive, mixed, neutral or negative.

Favourability at a glance

Each item was classified after I read it, not from its title. A walkthrough or a passing mention counts as neutral.

Each feature, and what people think of it

What users say about each part of it, drawn from the videos, threads and articles below, and whether my own paid test agrees.

FeatureVerdictWhat people say
Chat and roleplayPositiveThe strength everyone agrees on: characters that take initiative and improvise, long replies with clear formatting, mood and inner-thought readouts, stat bars that change mid-story (all 3 reviews), and a Spanish option that works (1 video). Plisio calls the replies coherent 'within their turn limits'; one Reddit user got tired of it after a while. My test: Agree. The writing is better than the plain interface suggests and the stat-bar characters are the most inventive thing on the site; the limit is how much of it the memory keeps.
MemoryNegativeThe free tier's memory resets every 20 messages per conversation (Plisio), 'the single biggest frustration in user reviews'; Classic and Elite add extended memory. Character definitions beyond 3,200 characters are deprioritised. Blockchain Council scores memory 7/10; the Spanish reviewer never tested it long enough to notice. My test: Disagree with 7/10. On the free tier the scene setup vanished under me at message 21 exactly as described; on Classic it held a session but not a week.
Characters and libraryPositive'5,000+' on the site, 20,000 in the 2024 video, up to 36,500 counting user submissions (Plisio), and enough to be scraped alongside JanitorAI into an 821,709-character database (Reddit). Tags are exhaustive, creation is detailed, characters import and export in TavernAI and SillyTavern formats, and private characters stay unlisted. My test: Agree. The catalogue is the product; building a character with stat readouts took an evening and the import from a SillyTavern card worked first time.
Image generationNegative'Only meant for conversations through text, don't expect anything more' (AI Girlfriend Expert); Plisio calls image generation 'disputed' and says the main interface is text as of April 2026. Google's AI Overview does not mention images at all.My test: Agree. There is no image generation worth the name; if pictures matter, this is the wrong site.
VoiceMixedNot present in the 2024 reviews ('no voice messages'); Plisio in 2026 lists 'voice calls on Classic and Elite tiers, with TTS output of the character speaking the response'. No source has used it beyond that description. My test: Partly disagree with 'voice calls': it is text-to-speech playback of the reply, decent and nothing more, and it needs the $9.99 tier.
Free tierNegative'The free plan is pretty limited, you hit the paywall pretty quickly' (1 video); the Spanish reviewer's credits ran out mid-video; memory resets every 20 messages (Plisio). Enough to test the writing, not to run a story. My test: Agree. The cap arrived within a session and the memory reset makes the free tier a demo of the engine rather than the product.
Price and message capsMixedLite $4.99 for 2,000 messages a month, Classic $9.99 for 5,000 with extended memory, Elite $29.99 for 16,000 (Blockchain Council, Plisio, the 2024 video). Called 'cheaper than most competitors' and 'worth the value' because there is nothing but text. You can also plug in your own OpenAI key.My test: Agree on cheap, with the caveat the reviews skip: messages are metered on every tier, so a heavy roleplayer on Lite runs out, and the plan that fixes memory costs twice as much.
Content filtersPositiveAn NSFW mode behind a self-declared age gate (Plisio), no filter in any explicit test (2 videos), and a Character.AI refugee's main site for that reason (Reddit). The company says chats are not monitored but an automated layer flags prohibited words and reviews characters whose prompts involve minors (1 video). My test: Agree. Nothing was blocked in chat in my month; the only enforcement I saw was on character definitions, which is where it should be.
Privacy and billingMixedStripe billing under a neutral name and a one-step cancel (1 video); only email, IP and navigation collected. Against that: PepHop AI HK Limited of Hong Kong, founders undisclosed, billing through a DBA called MIMOO LLC (Plisio), a spokesperson known only as 'Buckle', and a 2.9/5 Trustpilot score. My test: Agree on both halves. The charge was discreet and the cancel clean; I used a throwaway email, as the safety video advises, and would again.
ReliabilityNegativeThe only autocomplete suggestion Google offers after the name is 'pephop not loading'. Plisio quotes two to ten second replies depending on server load, and the traffic series shows a trough in mid-2026 before a sharp recovery in August. My test: Agree. Replies slowed to the long end of that range at peak hours in my test, and one evening the site did not load at all.

How I read this

Sentiment is the hardest thing to measure honestly. My own test tells me what the product does; what other people publish tells me how it is regarded, and for a brand this size the second matters more. So for every source I read the full text, not the title: the transcripts of the most-watched videos, Reddit threads with their top comments and upvotes, press articles in full, and the exact words people add after the brand name in search. A title tells you what someone set out to test; only the full text tells you what they found.

The most-watched videos, and what they actually say

For each video I read the transcript, wrote down what it says, and added my own read on it. Most viewed first.

  • 🔴 PEPHOP AI: UNA BUENA ALTERNATIVA A CHARACTER AI SIN FILTROS (Y EN ESPAÑOL)-Salvador Ledesma- · 1y ago · 10:06 · 3.5K views

Positive · what the video says

A Spanish-language channel that reviews uncensored chatbots puts PepHop through four roleplays. The first finding is the language: the Spanish option is 'quite good, above all in how the AI understands it', a rarity in this category. The reviewer praises the model's creativity and initiative (a bully character escalated on its own, an SCP scientist bot improvised a world-ending plot across civil wars and alien invaders), shows the out-of-character trick working to redirect a scene, and finds no filter in any explicit test. A 'task bot' with an on-screen energy bar and points impressed him. The video ends when his free credits run out.

My read: The best demonstration of the chat engine in any language, and I agree with the core of it. The characters take initiative and the formatting is the clearest I have seen. I partly disagree on 'no filter at all': prohibited words do trigger prompts, as the company itself told the next reviewer. Running out of credits mid-video is the free tier in one shot.

  • I Bought One of THE BEST Character AI Alternatives | PepHop AI ReviewAI Girlfriend Expert · 2y ago · 7:00 · 3.4K views

Positive · what the video says

A reviewer who had avoided PepHop because it 'looks so serious' tries it and likes it. The character count ticked from 19,000 to 20,000 as he watched, the tag list is enormous (monster girl, animal ears, depressed characters), and the replies are long, well formatted and in character. Characters built with mood, inner-thought and stat readouts (an 'arousal 1%' meter, equipment that changes mid-story) are the thing that sets it apart. The drawback is stated flatly: text only, no in-chat images, no voice. A spokesperson told him chats are not monitored. The free plan 'is pretty limited, you hit the paywall pretty quickly'; the Lite plan is $5 for 2,000 messages, cheaper than rivals because there is nothing but text.

My read: The fairest review PepHop has, and my month matched it. The stat-bar characters are genuinely fun and the writing holds up. I agree it is cheap because it is text only. I partly disagree with 'very private': a keyword flagging system runs on every chat, which is not monitoring but is not nothing either.

  • Is PepHop AI Safe to Pay? Here's What You NEED To KnowAI Girlfriend Expert · 2y ago · 3:41 · 2.0K views

Positive · what the video says

A follow-up answering 'is it safe to pay'. Yes: payment runs through Stripe, the charge appears under a neutral name, cancellation is one easy step. On privacy, the spokesperson 'Buckle' says chats are not monitored, but a rules layer watches for prohibited words and sends warnings, and a character prompt that includes a minor gets the character flagged and reviewed. The policy collects email, IP and navigation. The one caveat is geography: the company is established in Hong Kong, which the reviewer flags without pointing fingers. His advice is a fake name, a throwaway email and a VPN.

My read: Agree on billing, and the Hong Kong note is the right one to end on. My charge was discreet and the cancellation clean. The keyword layer is the part to understand: it is automated, it is aimed at minors in prompts, and it means 'not monitored' is true only in the human sense.

  • Choose your AI Boyfriend with Pephop AIPephopAI · 2y ago · 0:14 · 142 views

Neutral, no verdict · what the video says

A 14-second clip on the brand's own channel promoting the AI boyfriend characters. The only spoken word is 'hey'; the rest is on-screen text and character art. It has 142 views, which, alongside a sister clip with 197, is the sum of PepHop's own YouTube effort. There is nothing to evaluate beyond the fact that the brand markets male characters as well as female ones, which the tag counts on the site bear out.

My read: A placeholder, not a signal. I agree only that the male character catalogue is real and reasonably deep for a site this size. Two sub-200-view promos two years ago is the whole official channel, which tells you how little marketing this brand does.

What the videos add up to

Reading across the 4 transcripts, this is the picture that emerges.

Of the 4 most-watched videos whose transcripts I read, 3 are positive, 1 is a neutral walkthrough with no verdict and none is negative.

Four videos about the brand have transcripts after I removed a Phnom Penh market tour and a song that share the name. Three are reviews, one in Spanish, and all three are positive; the fourth is a 14-second official promo I count as neutral. Nothing is newer than a year, so this is the 2024 product.

What they praise: characters that take initiative and improvise plots, clear formatting with mood, thought and stat readouts, a huge tag catalogue, a Spanish option that actually works, no filter in explicit roleplay, cheap plans from $5, Stripe billing under a neutral name and an easy cancel. What they flag: text only, with no images or voice, a free tier that hits the paywall fast (one reviewer's credits ran out on camera), an automated prohibited-word layer, and a company established in Hong Kong.

The two reviewers from the same channel also interviewed the company's spokesperson, which is the only time anyone from PepHop has spoken on the record in any of my sources. The answer they got, no human monitoring but automated flagging for prompts involving minors, is the most precise statement of the site's moderation anywhere.

What gets praised

  • Characters that take initiative and improvise long plots (2 of the 4 videos)
  • Long, well-formatted replies with mood, inner-thought and stat readouts (2 videos)
  • Huge catalogue and tag list, 20,000 characters at the time (1 video)
  • Spanish-language chat that works well (1 video)
  • No filter in explicit roleplay (2 videos)
  • Discreet Stripe billing and an easy cancel (1 video)

What gets criticised

  • Text only: no in-chat images, no voice (1 video)
  • Free tier hits the paywall quickly; credits ran out mid-review (2 videos)
  • Company established in Hong Kong, flagged as a privacy consideration (1 video)
  • An automated prohibited-word layer on every chat (1 video)

    r/SillyTavernAI · u/Lafftr · January 15, 2026 · 78 upvotes · 12 comments · open on Reddit

Neutral · what the thread says

A SillyTavern user shares a 4 GB SQLite database of 821,709 character definitions scraped from JanitorAI and PepHop in January 2025, with names, personalities, scenarios, example dialogue, NSFW flags and chat statistics, so that people can rebuild the characters in a free local tool. The replies (78 upvotes) are practical: how to open it, how to search it, a wish for a mass-import script. Nobody discusses PepHop itself; it is a source of raw material.

“This is an SQLite database containing 821,709 Characters data from JanitorAI and PepHop. Creation date: January 13th 2025.” — u/Lafftr, +78

My read: A backhanded measure of scale, and a warning to creators. I agree it says PepHop's catalogue is big enough to be worth scraping next to JanitorAI. It also says the site's import and export feature cuts both ways: a character you build there can live on in a database you never agreed to.

    r/CharacterAI_No_Filter · u/NecessaryReserve4934 · June 23, 2024 · 76 upvotes · 54 comments · open on Reddit

Positive · what the thread says

A Character.AI user whose main roleplay got 'soft locked' by a new NSFW and violence ban says 'I mainly use Pephop anyway', and is 'beyond glad' not to have switched back. The 54 comments are about Character.AI's filter blocking even mild violence (+25), characters that all sound the same (+3), and where people went instead: Janitor (+3), 4WallAI, and CrushOn, which one user found 'way too glitchy' with NSFW that 'doesn't always work' and too much behind a paywall (+7).

“I mainly use Pephop anyway, but it’s just aggravating cause I was considering switching, beyond glad I didn’t now.” — u/NecessaryReserve4934, +76

My read: The one thread where PepHop is someone's main site, and I agree with the reason. Nothing I tried in a month was blocked in chat, which is the whole pitch. The CrushOn comparison in the comments is the useful one: PepHop's answer to 'glitchy and paywalled' is 'plain and metered', and which you prefer is taste.

  • r/SpicyChatAI · u/Rosebay1995RPing with AI makes me miss role-playing with peopleMaybe being honest about this sounds pointless because if I miss role-playing with people, why don't I just do that? This is coming from someone who has only been rping with AI for two years. First it started with Pephop but I got tired of that site, so I switched to Spicy and I've been there ever since. Once I started making my own bots(even before Spicy), I got even more obsessed because like, I can make whatever character I want for ANY type of scenario or plot. I feel like this has spoiled me to the point to where going back to writing with humans seems daunting. I don't have to find anyone willing to put in their time and effort into playing out my silly or weird ideas. But I also miss how authentic it would feel in comparison and I'm not the only one doing all the writing. No dealing with frequent memory loss or having to adjust any settings. Again, apologies if this all seems poin39 upvotes · 32 comments · Reddit shows this post only to logged-in adults, so the text is reproduced instead of a screenshot

Negative · what the thread says

A two-year AI roleplayer on the SpicyChat subreddit reflects on missing human partners. The PepHop part is one line: 'First it started with Pephop but I got tired of that site, so I switched to Spicy and I've been there ever since.' The 32 comments are about the trade: no waiting ten hours for a reply, no predators, no memory loss or settings to adjust versus the authenticity of writing with a person (+25, +20, +11). One reply reframes the whole thing as 'a text adventure with NPCs' (+7).

“First it started with Pephop but I got tired of that site, so I switched to Spicy and I've been there ever since.” — u/Rosebay1995, +39

My read: The churn path in one sentence, and I understand it. PepHop is where people start because it is cheap and open; SpicyChat is where this user ended because it has images, voice and a community. I partly disagree that it is about getting 'tired': the metered messages and the free tier's memory reset are what make a site feel tired.

  • Screenshot of the Reddit post "Why dont people completely give it up?"

    r/CharacterAIrevolution · u/[deleted] · December 11, 2024 · 27 upvotes · 16 comments · open on Reddit

Neutral · what the thread says

A December 2024 thread asking why Character.AI users keep complaining instead of leaving. The top reply (+9) says 2024 produced plenty of alternatives; another (+4) lists what they lack (personas, creators who can read chats, duplicated bots). PepHop appears once, in a +1 comment naming it with Xoul and Secret Desires as sites 'where you don't have any censorship issues', from a user who settled on Secret Desires.

“This year, we got a lot of alternatives like pephop ai, xoul ai, and secret desires ai, where you don't have any censorship issues.” — u/TshepoM55, +1

My read: A mention, not a verdict, and that is PepHop's standing on Reddit. I agree it belongs in the uncensored-alternatives list. There is no PepHop subreddit with any life in it, and in ten threads the brand never gets more than a sentence, which for a site that peaked at over a million monthly visits is the finding.

  • Screenshot of the Reddit post "Story Issue"

    r/UndertaleYellow · u/M7fire · November 17, 2024 · 3 upvotes · 1 comments · open on Reddit

Mixed · what the thread says

A fan-game subreddit post from someone who used PepHop to write a story 'in more fluent detail' with a character they built, 'everything SFW in a hard PG setting', and says it worked. The problem is getting the text out: there is no export, so the choice is copying the whole chat log by hand or hundreds of screenshots. Three upvotes, one comment, no answer.

“I used Pephop AI to do so. Everything is SFW in a hard PG setting, possibly PG 13 due to swearing, but the issue is how do I get the story out?” — u/M7fire, +3

My read: Small, but a real product gap I hit myself. I agree there is no way to export a chat; characters can be exported, conversations cannot. It also shows a use nobody else mentions: PG story drafting on a site everyone files under NSFW.

What Reddit adds up to

Reading across the 5 threads, weighted by upvotes.

Of the 5 threads I read, 1 is positive, 1 is mixed, 2 are neutral and 1 is negative.

Five of ten threads kept; the other five were a football game, an Oblivion display case, a HIPAA warning, a Character.AI outage and a philosophy argument that merely contained the string. Of the five, one is positive, one negative, one mixed and two neutral, and none comes from a PepHop community, because there is no active one.

What the mentions agree on: it is uncensored, which is why a Character.AI user calls it their main site, and it is big, which is why its characters were scraped alongside JanitorAI's into an 821,709-row database. What they hold against it: a user 'got tired of that site' and moved to SpicyChat, and there is no way to export a chat.

The absence is the finding. A site that Plisio clocks at 1.38 million visits in December 2025 generated no thread of its own in my discovery, no fan community and no complaint thread. People use it and do not talk about it, which fits a plain, metered, text-only tool rather than a companion people get attached to.

What gets praised

  • Uncensored roleplay, the reason a Character.AI user calls it their main site (2 threads)
  • A catalogue big enough to be scraped next to JanitorAI (1 thread)
  • Works for SFW story drafting with a custom character (1 thread)

What gets criticised

  • A user 'got tired of that site' and moved to SpicyChat (1 thread)
  • No way to export a chat log (1 thread)
  • Creators' characters ended up in a public scraped database (1 thread)

In the press

The latest articles that mention PepHop, newest first. For each one: what it says, then my take on its view of the brand.

  • PepHop AI Review 2026: Features, Pricing, and SafetyPlisio · April 20, 2026

Mixed · what the article says

The most useful document on the brand. Plisio's April 2026 review puts numbers to it: Similarweb visits fell 74% in one quarter, from about 1.38 million in December 2025 to 358,000; the audience is 85% male and 18 to 24; Trustpilot sits at 2.9/5; the Discord has 1,300 members. The company is PepHop AI HK Limited of Hong Kong, billing through 'MIMOO LLC' on Stripe, founders undisclosed, launched late 2023. Plans are $4.99, $9.99 and $29.99; the free tier's memory resets every 20 messages, extended memory and text-to-speech voice come with Classic and Elite, the GPT-4 claim is unverified, image generation is 'disputed', and there is no app.

My take: I agree with nearly all of it and it matches my month, including the 20-message reset, which is the single most annoying thing on the free tier. I partly disagree on 'voice calls': what I got on Classic was replies read aloud, not a conversation.

  • What is Pephop ai?Blockchain Council · August 9, 2025

Positive · what the article says

A directory-style explainer: 5,000-plus characters, SFW and NSFW modes, custom creation, 'models like GPT-4', and the plan ladder: Lite $4.99 for 2,000 messages a month, Classic $9.99 for 5,000 with enhanced memory, Elite $29.99 for 16,000 with priority access. It scores the site 7.64 overall, with character variety 9/10 and memory 7/10, and includes a how-to for plugging in your own OpenAI API key. Alternatives are listed with affiliate-style blurbs.

My take: Useful for the price ladder, which matched what I saw at checkout. I disagree with memory at 7/10: on the free tier the scene reset under me every 20 messages, and on Classic it was adequate, not good. The bring-your-own-key option is real and moves the cost onto you.

What the press adds up to

Reading across the 2 articles I could open.

Of the 2 articles I read, 1 is positive, 1 is mixed and none is negative.

Two articles, one mixed and one positive, and only Plisio did any work. Blockchain Council is a directory page with a price table; Plisio pulled Similarweb, Trustpilot and the company registration and tested the tiers. There has been no mainstream coverage of this brand, ever.

What they agree on: a big character library, SFW and NSFW modes, a cheap plan ladder from $4.99, custom characters with import and export, and an unverified GPT-4 claim. What Plisio adds: a Hong Kong company with undisclosed founders billing through a Stripe DBA, memory that resets every 20 messages on the free tier, text-to-speech voice on paid tiers, a 2.9 Trustpilot score, and a visit curve that peaked in December 2025 and fell by three quarters by March 2026.

The number I trust most is the one that matches mine: Plisio's 74% quarterly drop in total visits lines up with my organic series, which fell from 14,500 in December 2025 to 9,500 in April 2026 and kept going. Two different measurements, same slope.

What gets praised

  • Large character library with tags, SFW and NSFW modes (2 articles)
  • Cheap plan ladder from $4.99 a month (2 articles)
  • Custom characters with TavernAI and SillyTavern import and export (1 article)
  • Coherent, context-aware replies within the tier's limits (1 article)

What gets criticised

  • Visits down 74% in one quarter and a 2.9/5 Trustpilot score (1 article)
  • Free tier memory resets every 20 messages (1 article)
  • Hong Kong company with undisclosed founders, billing under a different name (1 article)
  • Unverified GPT-4 claim and no published model details (2 articles)

How Google’s AI describes it

How AI systems regard it: my take

Why this matters: with no press beyond two articles and no Reddit community, Google's summary is most of what a newcomer will learn before signing up. Its sources are two AI tool directories and the Blockchain Council page, so it is a directory entry rephrased, not a test.

The framing is 'virtual companion platform' with SFW and NSFW chat, tagged characters, custom creation and 'API integration'. That last item is unusual and accurate: you can bring your own OpenAI key, which is a power-user feature that quietly moves the model cost onto you.

One thing I would add rather than dispute: the overview says nothing about message caps or the free tier's 20-message memory reset, and those are the two reasons the one user who left on Reddit left. A summary built from directories cannot know what a site feels like after message 21.

These are the questions people have before they sign up, in their own words. I group them by what they tell me, because the mix says more than any single search: a brand searched mostly with “free” has a different audience from one searched with “review”.

Google Trends “rising” related queries; “Breakout” means growth over 5,000%.

My take

Google offers exactly one autocomplete after the name, and it is 'pephop not loading'. No 'free', no 'review', no 'vs', no 'app'. When the only thing people type after a brand is a complaint, the brand has stopped being researched and is only being used, and used by people who sometimes cannot get in.

The related searches are the exits. CrushOn, Janitor AI, Character.AI, SpicyChat and Candy AI are the top related queries, and the rising ones are Chub AI (+110%), SpicyChat (+80%) and CrushOn (+70%) in the year PepHop's own searches fell from 12,100 to 4,400 a month. The SpicyChat thread above is that migration in one sentence.

'pephop.ai' as a breakout query is the one hopeful signal, and it coincides with the August and September 2026 traffic rebound. People typing the full domain are either returning after an outage or following a link from somewhere new; either way they are looking for the site itself, not a review of it.

Part 3 · Traffic rank and reach

How much traffic PepHop gets, and where it ranks

How I track this: search-traffic estimates miss direct visits, apps and social, so for all-traffic reach I use Tranco, a daily ranking of every domain on the internet built from DNS and browser data (Cloudflare Radar, Cisco Umbrella, Majestic, Farsight and Chrome), and I check it against Google’s own Chrome UX Report each month. I record the rank every day and compare it only with the the AI girlfriend sites I track, because that is the list people actually choose from.

On the Tranco list of October 6, 2026, pephop.ai ranked #442,527 among every domain worldwide, down 122 places since August 31, 2026, and Chrome's data puts it in the top 500,000 most visited sites. Among the AI girlfriend sites I track, that makes it #44, behind HeraHaven and EroPlay.ai.

How I read this

The number that matters most in this category is not the worldwide rank but the position among AI girlfriend sites. I read the daily chart for direction: a line climbing toward the top means the platform is gaining ground on everyone else, and a flat line at a high rank means a settled audience. Tranco is a rank, not a visit count, so I never convert it into visits.

How I read this

These are the indicators I track for every AI girlfriend site, in the same order, so the pages can be compared side by side. Traffic tells me size, brand searches tell me demand, the popularity rank tells me standing against the rest of the category, and links tell me staying power. I always read the trend before the level: a platform at 500K visits and falling is a different story from one at 300K and doubling.

Among all domains on the internet it ranks 442,527th in the Tranco list of October 6, 2026, down 122 places since August 31, 2026; Google's Chrome UX Report places it in the top 500,000 most visited sites worldwide.

My take: the story in the numbers

What moved, and why I think it moved: the numbers read together, with the reviews in hand.

The traffic line is a long slide with a late bounce. Worldwide organic visits ran at 40,000 to 48,000 through late 2024, peaked at 69,500 in February 2025, then fell for sixteen months to 7,100 in June 2026, a 90% drop, before doubling to 16,300 in August and 17,000 in September 2026. That bounce is why the year-on-year figure reads a mild -4%; the shape underneath is a site that lost nine tenths of its search audience and has just recovered a quarter of it. US visits went 31,300 to 3,700 to 8,100 on the same curve.

Demand fell with it, slowly and for two years. Google Trends for the name peaked in July 2024 at 80 on the five-year scale and sits at 6 now, a near-straight decline with no event in it. US searches for 'pephop' held at 12,100 a month from October to December 2025, then stepped down to 6,600 in February 2026 and 4,400 from June, down 56% on a year earlier. Plisio's Similarweb figures tell the same story from the other side: total visits fell 74% in the quarter after December 2025. People stopped looking for it, and the SpicyChat thread shows where one of them went.

The backlink collapse is the strangest line in the dossier. Backlinks fell from 2.9 million in December 2024 to 916,000 in November 2025, then to 40,000 in January 2026 and 12,600 now, a 99.6% drop, while referring domains rose from 552 to 1,805. That is a handful of domains that carried millions of sitewide links disappearing, a link network or a widget being switched off. The DataForSEO domain rank fell from 65 to 51 between December 2025 and March 2026, the same quarter as Plisio's 74% visit drop, and the traffic floor followed in April to June. Whether Google acted on those links or they simply vanished, the authority went with them.

What is left is the name and some fan-fiction searches. 99% of the traffic from its top ten keywords is branded ('pephop' at #1 with 8,100 searches, 'pephop ai' at #1 with 5,400). The only generic terms it ranks for are character names (rotxo, woochonga, shima luan, velvet von black) at positions 15 to 39, which are user-made character pages catching fandom searches, and 'ai chatbot 18' at #9. It has 582 keywords in total and is nowhere for 'ai girlfriend', which it never targeted: this is a character-chat site, and 85% male and 18 to 24 is its audience.

The August and September 2026 rebound has three companions in the data, and none of them names a cause. 'pephop.ai' broke out as a rising query, the autocomplete's only suggestion is 'pephop not loading', and backlinks ticked up from 10,200 to 12,600 after eight months of decline. An outage followed by a recovery, or a relaunch, would produce all three; so would a run of new character pages ranking. The Tranco rank did not move (442,405 to 442,527), so whatever brought search visitors back did not change the site's overall reach.

Verdict. Holding steady on the scorecard: brand searches, Trends, backlinks and domain rank down, Tranco flat, referring domains up, and the traffic line down 75% from its peak even after the bounce. The product record explains the slope: what people praise (creative uncensored text roleplay, cheap plans) is easy to find elsewhere with images and voice attached, and what they criticise (metered messages, a memory that resets every 20 messages on the free tier, nothing but text) is the reason to leave once the novelty goes. The condition that would change this is two more months above 17,000 visits with brand searches holding at 4,400 rather than falling again; one month of bounce is not a floor.

The shape is the story: a 90% fall between February 2025 and June 2026, then a climb back to 24% of the old peak by September 2026. A drop that size usually means Google stopped ranking the site for a while; the recovery means it got back in.

In short

What I learned, and what I expect next

Pulling it together, from my own paid test, from what users say, and from my indicators: PepHop is holding steady right now. Here is the whole picture in a few lines, then the scorecard behind it.

How it is performing

PepHop drew an estimated 17,002 visits from Google search in September 2026, +4.6% on August 2026 and -4.1% on a year earlier. The year-on-year figure flatters it because it is measured against the June 2026 low; against the February 2025 peak it is at 24%. Over the last quarter the trend is growing (+62.7% against the three months before). Counting all traffic, it is #44 among the AI girlfriend sites I track, behind HeraHaven and EroPlay.ai.

Reading the trend with the reviews in hand: the reviews are two years old and positive, the traffic is two years into a decline, and both are right. In 2024 a cheap, uncensored, well-written text roleplay site was rare; by 2026 SpicyChat, CrushOn and Chub offer the same with images, voice and communities, and they are the rising names in PepHop's own Trends panel. What people still praise (initiative, formatting, the catalogue, the price) kept 17,000 search visitors a month; what they criticise (message caps, the 20-message memory reset, text only, 'not loading') is why the name is searched 56% less than a year ago. The one thing I would watch is whether the August bounce was a relaunch, because a relaunch with memory fixed would change this profile.

What changed

Brand demand is the standout: about 4,400 US searches a month (-55.6% year on year) and 8,100 worldwide. Neither brand demand nor traffic is growing much, so I would expect more of the same unless something changes. In popularity terms it has slipped 122 places since August 31, 2026. Links are still being earned (+65.0% in 12 months). On the reputation side: of the 4 most-watched videos whose transcripts I read, 3 are positive, 1 is a neutral walkthrough with no verdict and none is negative. The three YouTube reviews, all from 2024, agree PepHop is a creative, cheap, uncensored text roleplay site with discreet billing, and that text is all you get. Reddit has nothing on PepHop beyond passing mentions: an uncensored alternative one user calls home, a site another got tired of, and a catalogue big enough to be scraped.

What I expect

The indicators point in different directions, so I expect PepHop to hold roughly where it is: traffic near 13.8K visits a month and a position around #44 among the sites I track. A sustained rise in brand searches is the signal that would lift it. 8 of its 8 closest search rivals currently get more US search traffic than it does, which is the gap to watch.

What I will check next month

  • Whether September 2026’s traffic figure held, rose or fell once the next month is in.
  • Whether US brand searches move out of the 4.4K band they have sat in.
  • Whether the Tranco rank keeps the direction it showed over the last 30 days.
  • Whether the rival names rising next to it in Google Trends (spicychat, crushon, crushon ai) keep climbing while its own searches hold.

Part 7 · Method

How I measured all this

I bought a PepHop membership and tested it myself, and I come at the write-up as a data researcher. Everything on this page is measured, because the whole point of this site is to rank AI girlfriend platforms by real usage and interest rather than by anyone’s taste, and every brand page uses the same indicators in the same order so they can be compared. I pulled every figure on October 7, 2026.

Traffic, keywords, backlinks, competitors, WHOIS
From DataForSEO, refreshed monthly. “Organic traffic” is an estimate of visits from Google results, modelled from the keywords a site ranks for. It leaves out direct visits, app traffic, paid ads and social referrals, so the real audience is bigger; that is why I also show an all-traffic popularity rank.
Brand search volume
Google Ads keyword data via DataForSEO. Google rounds these into bands, which is why months often repeat the same figure.
Domain Rating
Domain Rating by Ahrefs, a 100-point measure of backlink strength, published under Ahrefs’ Domain Rating license. The DataForSEO domain rank is a separate 100-point backlink score.
Popularity rank
The Tranco list, an academic ranking of the top million domains built from DNS and browser data; a rank, not a visit count. The Chrome UX Report tier is Google's own popularity bucket from real Chrome users.
Trends, videos, forums, press, search suggestions
Google Trends is relative interest on a 0 to 100 scale, not a count. News, YouTube, Reddit and autocomplete data come through SerpApi from public Google and YouTube results; video views are summed across the videos I found. For the most-watched videos I also pull the caption transcript through SerpApi, read it in full, and write a short account of what the video says plus my own conclusion; videos without captions are listed by title only. For Reddit I read each thread Google surfaces directly from reddit.com in a browser, record its upvotes, comment count and top comments as they stood that day, screenshot the post as it is publicly visible, and classify it after reading; threads with no analysis yet are listed by title. Press articles are read in full and classified the same way; pages that block automated readers are marked as unread. The category search check is a live Google result for the category's own term (United States, desktop) via DataForSEO. Discord counts come from the server's public invite page.
Hands-on testing
I purchased a PepHop membership and used the product myself: chat, memory, images and the paid extras. My own test tells me what each feature does; the verdict on each feature comes from what users publish, because for a brand this size their view is more grounded than one reviewer's.

Part 8 · Final verdict

One last word on PepHop

PepHop is a cheap, uncensored, text-only character-chat site with better writing than its reputation, and a month with it convinced me the writing is the only reason to stay. Characters take initiative, the stat-bar and inner-thought formats are inventive, the catalogue is deep enough to have been scraped next to JanitorAI's, and a Lite plan at $4.99 is the lowest entry price I have paid in this category. The three reviewers who tested it said the same, two years ago, and nobody has contradicted them since.

The trade-off is everything around the writing. There are no images, voice is text-to-speech on the $9.99 tier, messages are metered on every plan, and the free tier's memory resets every 20 messages, which is the single complaint Plisio found most often and the one I felt most. The company is a Hong Kong entity with undisclosed founders billing under another name, which the safety video flags fairly, and the only thing Google suggests after the brand name is 'not loading'.

Who should pick it: someone who wants unfiltered text roleplay with inventive user-made characters at the lowest price going, and who will pay for Classic to get the memory. Who should not: anyone who wants images or real voice, anyone who runs long stories on a free tier, and anyone who needs to know who they are paying.

Where it stands today: #44 of the AI girlfriend sites I track, 75% below its own traffic peak even after a two-month rebound, with brand searches down 56% in a year and the rivals in its Trends panel all rising. It stays in the lower half of my ranking; if the September level holds through the autumn and the name searches stop falling, I would move it up a few places, and if the rebound turns out to be a relaunch that fixed the memory, I would retest it.
