SpicyChat
An AI girlfriend site: what it offers, what people say, and the numbers.
I bought a SpicyChat membership and tested it myself. Then I built a data-tracked profile of spicychat.ai, refreshed monthly. Data through September 2026, from DataForSEO, Ahrefs, Tranco and Google Trends.

I bought a SpicyChat membership and tested it myself, feature by feature. I’m an AI girlfriend enthusiast and a data researcher, and both shape every page on this site: my own test tells me what the product does, but I don’t grade SpicyChat on my feel alone.
I weigh what its users publish, and I track it the way an analyst tracks a market, with a fixed set of indicators that show how big a platform is, whether it is growing or fading, and how it compares with every other AI girlfriend site I follow.
This page answers three questions in order: what you get, what people are saying, and what the numbers show. Part 1 comes from my own paid test and SpicyChat’s feature list and pricing, Part 2 from the videos, Reddit threads and press I read in full, and Parts 3 and 4 from traffic and search data. That is also how I rank the best AI girlfriend sites: tested first-hand, then judged by what users say and by the numbers.
Part 1 · What it offers
What SpicyChat offers
SpicyChat (spicychat.ai) is an adult AI girlfriend platform: you create or pick a companion and talk to it. I bought a membership and tested it myself; this is what it offers, and Part 2 is what users say about each part of it.
- Features
- Emotionally expressive AI chat, NSFW content, Character customization, Flexible pricing tiers
- Free tier
- The free tier allows unlimited messages and NSFW chat with a queue at peak hours and a shorter memory, and adult bots need age verification in the UK, France, Italy and 25 US states.
- Plans
- $4.95/mo
- Extras
- Named monthly tiers: Get A Taste ~$4.95-$5/mo, True Supporter ~$14/mo, I'm All In ~$24/mo, with roughly 17% off if billed annually.
- Operator
- NextDay AI, Montreal, Canada, since 2023 (domain registered May 2023); domain registered May 2023
- Best for
- Budget-conscious users who want quality AI conversation and NSFW chat at the lowest possible price
- Not for
- Anyone who wants voice interaction, image generation, or cross-session memory
Features and prices from the platform’s own pages; operator from press coverage (Yahoo Finance (CNW press release), realite-virtuelle.com, VPNOverview.com, AI Girlfriends on YouTube, Companion Rater on YouTube). Official site and social accounts are listed at the end of the page.
Part 2 · What people say
What people say about SpicyChat
I bought a membership and tested SpicyChat myself, but I don’t take my own word for it. Many users have a more grounded view of a platform this popular than one reviewer can, and I would rather not give it too much or too little credit from my own intent, so I treat what users publish and ask as the main signal for how the brand, and each of its features, is regarded. On October 7, 2026 I found 11 YouTube videos with 22,648 views between them, 9 Reddit threads that Google surfaces, and 4 news articles in the last year. I did not stop at the titles: I read 7 video transcripts (3,634 words), 9 threads with their top comments and 7 articles in full, and classified each one as positive, mixed, neutral or negative.
Favourability at a glance
Each item was classified after I read it, not from its title. A walkthrough or a passing mention counts as neutral.
| Source | Read | Pos.Positive | Mixed | Neut.Neutral | Neg.Negative | Fav.Favourable |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube videostranscripts read in full | 7 | 3 | 0 | 4 | 0 | 43% |
| Reddit threadspost and top comments | 9 | 1 | 4 | 3 | 1 | 11% |
| Press articlesread in full | 7 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 71% |
| All sources | 23 | 9 | 5 | 8 | 1 | 39% |
In one line: YouTube videos 43% positive, 0 negative of 7; Reddit threads 11% positive, 1 negative of 9; Press articles 71% positive, 0 negative of 7. The gap between YouTube videos and Press articles on one side and Reddit on the other is the main sentiment finding on this page, and the sections below explain it.
Each feature, and what people think of it
What users say about each part of it, drawn from the videos, threads and articles below, and whether my own paid test agrees.
| Feature | Verdict | What people say |
|---|---|---|
| Chat and roleplay | Positive | The two YouTube reviews score the chat 4.2 and call it 'genuinely good'; Reddit says it is 'generally better than c.ai' and that the roleplay itself is never refused (3 threads). The caveats are about the models: SpicyXL writes the user's lines, the free model ranks last in a three-way test, and a 'soft filter' fishes for consent. My test: Agree. The best scenes I had on SpicyXL were as good as anything in this category at the price, and the consent reflex and the speaking-for-me habit were the two things I had to keep correcting. |
| Memory and lorebooks | Mixed | Context tops out at 16K even on the top tier, which the company's own support reply puts at 35 to 40 exchanges before the bot forgets, and Reddit puts the free tier at about 15 messages. Against that, lorebooks (8,000 tokens), pinned memories and semantic memory on paid tiers are praised by the press and the affiliate review, and one side-by-side ranks its memory first. My test: Partly disagree. The ceiling is real, but with a lorebook and pinned memories a detail held across sessions for me on True Supporter; without them, the character forgot inside an evening. |
| Models | Mixed | Its own uncensored models rather than a filtered wrapper (2 articles): SpicyXL for scenes, Lyra and Magnum for variety, Mixtral on premium. Reddit's threads on model pros and cons are the site's real manual: SpicyXL is 'really great at scenes' but takes over the user, it broke for days in early 2025, and there is no system prompt to steer any of them.My test: Agree. SpicyXL wrote the best prose and needed the most policing; switching models mid-scene to fix a reply, as Reddit suggests, worked better than any setting. |
| Images and voice | Negative | Both reviews score images 3 or warn of 'inconsistent anatomical details', Greenbot notes delays and audio glitches, and a Reddit creator says the filter 'kicks in constantly' on images. The press promises realistic premium voices and live calls for 'selected users'; no reviewer tests either. My test: Disagree. The press is wrong on voice: the text-to-speech on my plan was flat and often failed to play, images were the weakest thing I tried, and I never saw a voice call. This is a text site. |
| Characters and the creator community | Positive | The library is the moat: 138,000 characters in mid-2025, 850,000 bots by the company's count, with PNG and JSON card import from other sites, a creator leaderboard with a free top-tier month as a prize, and a 2026 analytics dashboard creators argue over. Reddit calls it 'the best source of characters' (1 thread); the one caveat, from both reviews, is that quality varies. My test: Agree. The card import brought a character from another site over in a minute, and the top creators' bots are far better than the average, which the depth metric on the dashboard rewards. |
| Free tier and queues | Positive | Unlimited messages and NSFW open on the free tier, which the comparison piece calls unusual in the category (4 articles, 2 videos, 2 threads). The cost is a queue at peak hours, 'seven to eight minutes' by one account, and a shorter memory; one video says the free model struggles with non-human characters. My test: Agree. I hit the queue every evening and never a paywall. It is the most honest free tier in this category: slow rather than crippled. |
| Price and no tokens | Positive | Get A Taste at about $5 a month, True Supporter at $14.95 and I'm All In at $24.95, with roughly 17% off annually, and no tokens, credits or per-message charges anywhere (2 videos, 1 thread). Nobody on Reddit complains about billing, which is the main complaint on every rival's subreddit. My test: Agree. A month on the middle tier was the only subscription in this category where I never thought about a meter. |
| Age verification and filters | Mixed | Since early 2026 adult bots need a video selfie or ID in the UK, France, Italy and 25 US states (1 article, 3 threads), which the older 'no verification' tutorial and the comparison piece miss. The chat itself is not filtered, but character creation is, and a 2025 tightening flagged kisses and pets for a week before being relaxed (1 thread). My test: Agree. The check appeared on my first adult bot, not at sign-up, and the creation form flagged one description. 'No filter' is true of the conversation and false of everything around it. |
| Privacy and billing | Mixed | Sign-up needs only an email, there is a guest mode, chats can be deleted, and billing is a flat subscription with no surprises. Against that, the Companion Rater review calls the privacy claims vague and says chats train the models, realite-virtuelle notes content can be reviewed on reports, and the 2024 overview's HIPAA claim is nonsense. My test: Agree. Nothing unexpected on my card and cancellation took one click; the policy says chats may be used for training, so I treated every scene as kept. |
| Support and moderation | Positive | Staff answer inside the subreddit with context figures and workarounds (3 threads), a model was kept alive because users asked, and deletions come with an emailed reason and the rule cited. The scale is disputed, six people by users' estimate and about sixty by the FAQ.My test: Agree. I did not need support, but I read the staff's replies on Reddit before I read the help pages, and they were better. |

Trying ai websites & Apps charstar, spicychat, #characterai #funnyaiNevsei · 3y ago · 1:52 · 9.2K viewsNeutral, no verdict · what the video says
A three-year-old comedy short in which the presenter chats with one random character on each of three sites, Charstar, SpicyChat and HiWaifu, for laughs. The SpicyChat segment is a Tsunade bot from Naruto that answers a crude question in character without flinching, which is the joke: the bot 'answered my question' where the other sites' characters deflected. There is no feature test, no pricing and no verdict; the most-watched SpicyChat video is entertainment that happens to show the lack of a filter in a single exchange.
My read: The only thing this proves is the one thing people want to know. I agree with what the clip shows: in my test SpicyChat characters stayed in the scene where Character.AI would have refused. That it is the most-watched video tells me the audience is young, comes from anime fandom and arrives looking for the uncensored version of what it already uses.
How to Use SpicyChat for the Most Flirty & Fun AI Chats in SECONDS!Tutorial Academy · 1y ago · 1:44 · 5.0K viewsNeutral, no verdict · what the video says
A synthetic-voice tutorial: open the site, create an account with an email, browse thousands of characters filtered by romance or flirty tags, tap one and chat, or create your own by filling in a name, personality and backstory, and delete conversations whenever you like. Two of its claims are now out of date: that there is an app on both Android and iOS, and that there is 'no verification'. The press says the iOS app was removed from the App Store, and since early 2026 adult content needs an age check in the UK, France, Italy and 25 US states.
My read: A year-old how-to that has aged badly on two points. I disagree with it on both: in my test the site asked for age verification before any adult bot would talk, and on an iPhone the browser is the only route. The sign-up and character-creation steps are still accurate.
Spicychat.ai Review & Tutorial: Free vs. Premium TestedAI Girlfriends · 6mo ago · 6:42 · 4.4K viewsPositive · what the video says
An affiliate-linked explainer that Google's AI Overview cites. It frames SpicyChat as the answer to 'I cannot fulfil this request': proprietary models trained for adult storytelling instead of a filtered wrapper, so 'the system plays along with whatever scenario you initiate'. It describes semantic memory 2.0 condensing chats into a lorebook, a 16K context window, image uploads the bot reacts to, a built-in image generator that 'can produce inconsistent anatomical details', and text-to-speech. The free tier is 'completely unlimited messaging' with queues at peak hours and faster memory resets; $14.95 True Supporter skips the queue and unlocks the memory, $24.95 I'm All In adds 16K and SpicyXL.
My read: The most complete description of the product, and the one I argue with most. I agree on the pricing ladder, the queue and the memory being tier-gated. I disagree with 'zero moral guardrails': creators on Reddit were flagged by the character-creation filter, the bots fish for consent, and the age wall now sits in front of NSFW in half the US.

A 38-second app-store style blurb: an 'AI powered chat application designed for personalized and interactive conversations' where you control personality traits and communication style, characters 'maintain context and adapt', and paid tiers unlock 'more customization options and faster responses'. No screen is tested, no price is named, and the narration could describe any chat app. Its only accurate specific is that speed is what the paid tiers sell, which matches the queue system every other source describes.
My read: Filler, but its one specific is right. I agree that what you pay for on SpicyChat is mostly priority and memory, not content, since NSFW is open on the free tier. Beyond that there is nothing here to agree or disagree with; it is a listing read aloud.
SpicyChat AI Review 2026: Best Free Uncensored AI Girlfriend?Companion Rater · 3mo ago · 1:42 · 1.1K viewsPositive · what the video says
A two-minute verdict after a week of use. The pitch is that most AI girlfriend apps 'nickel and dime you with tokens' and SpicyChat does not: unlimited messages, no per-message credits, loose filters, thousands of community characters of variable quality. It scores chat and value 4.2 out of 5, images 3, and gives 4 out of 5 overall, with paid 'from $5 a month, about $50 a year'. The catches it names: weak images, vague privacy claims, chats used to train the models, and user-made characters, so 'watch what you share'. No known breach.
My read: This is close to my own scorecard. I agree on chat quality, on no tokens being the real differentiator, and on the images being an afterthought. The one thing I would add is the queue: at peak hours the free tier made me wait, which is the cost that replaces the token meter.

A step-by-step character creation guide that reads like the brand's own onboarding ('our top subscription, I'm All In', 'stay spicy'): name, a public one-line title, a greeting or a 'wizard' button that generates everything, a personality paragraph, visibility (public, unlisted, private), a separate switch for whether others can read the definition, an avatar generated from a prompt or uploaded, import of PNG or JSON character cards from other sites, up to 12 tags, and example dialogues under advanced settings. It ends by pointing at the creator leaderboard and a free month of the top tier for winners.
My read: Brand-made, so I read it as documentation rather than opinion. I agree it is accurate: the card import worked for me with a character written for another site, which is a real advantage for anyone switching. The leaderboard prize explains why the library keeps growing; creators are competing for it.
SpicyChat.AI Review-Did This REALLY Serve The Expected Purpose Or ??See(Check Before useThe Confirmation SPOT · 1y ago · 4:21 · 199 viewsPositive · what the video says
An affiliate video that promises 'what real users are saying' and reads out four Trustpilot reviews. Two of the four describe a dating site, with 'a matching algorithm' and 'meeting incredible people', which SpicyChat is not, and the presenter's own summary repeats that it 'helps you find dates with relative ease'. The one review that fits the product praises free NSFW chat with a seven-to-eight-minute wait instead of a paywall. The only hard fact is a $5 a month starting price, followed by three invitations to click the discount link.
My read: Discard it. The reviews it quotes are for another service and the description of the site is wrong; I disagree with the premise that this reflects 'real users'. The one accurate detail, waiting a few minutes on the free tier rather than paying, matches my experience at peak times.
What the videos add up to
Reading across the 7 transcripts, this is the picture that emerges.
Of the 7 most-watched videos whose transcripts I read, 3 are positive, 4 are neutral walkthroughs with no verdict and none is negative.
Seven videos have transcripts and only two are reviews with a test behind them. Both come out positive: a 4 out of 5 after a week of use, and an affiliate explainer that Google's AI Overview now quotes. The rest are a comedy short, a brand-made creation tutorial, an app-listing blurb, a dated how-to and an affiliate video that reads out reviews of a dating site.
What the two real reviews agree on: unlimited messages with no token meter, NSFW open on the free tier, a huge community library of uneven quality, memory and context that improve with the tier, and a free tier whose cost is a queue at peak hours rather than a paywall. Both name the images as the weak point and one calls the privacy claims vague, with chats used for training.
Two claims to correct. 'Zero moral guardrails' is the affiliate line, and Reddit's creators would laugh at it: character creation is filtered, the bots fish for consent, and since early 2026 adult content sits behind an age check in the UK, France, Italy and 25 US states. And the year-old tutorial's 'no verification' and 'app on iOS' are both no longer true.
What gets praised
- Unlimited messages with no tokens or per-message credits (2 of the 7 videos)
- A community character library in the hundreds of thousands (3 videos)
- Loose filters and characters that stay in the scene (3 videos, including the comedy short)
- Semantic memory, lorebooks and a 16K context on the top tier (1 video)
- Low entry price, $5 a month or about $50 a year (2 videos)
What gets criticised
- Weak image generation, with inconsistent anatomy (2 videos)
- Queues at peak hours and faster memory resets on the free tier (1 video)
- Vague privacy claims and chats used to train models (1 video)
- The deep memory and 16K context are reserved for the $14.95 and $24.95 tiers (1 video)
- Community characters vary from great to rough (1 video)

The most upvoted thread of all (51) celebrates a filter being relaxed in April 2025, and in doing so explains where SpicyChat's filter actually lives: it screens character creation, not the roleplay itself. For a week creators had been flagged for 'the simplest things', an unspecified age, a pet in the description, a kiss. Half the replies are confused because they had never seen a filter in chat, which is the point. The poster adds a second, separate complaint that stays true today: the AI has a 'soft filter' that is 'always fishing for consent'.
“Spicychat filters character creation not the actual RPs, the past week has been absolute hell for character creators, just kissing was considered rape.” — u/cunney, +13
My read: This is the thread the 'no filter' marketing should link to. I agree on both halves: in my month the chat itself never refused, but the consent-check reflex surfaced in nearly every scene until I told the character to stop, and the creation form flagged a description once for an age I had not given.

The most upvoted thread on the brand's subreddit (45) asks whether one-starring a repetitive reply changes anything. The answer from users and from a staff member is no: ratings go to the AI team as training feedback and do not touch the ongoing chat. The thread is useful for what it reveals in passing: the top user complaint is bots that talk for the user, which people fight with commands and pinned memories, one user asks whether rating sends their 'filth' to the company, and the practical advice is to edit the bot's reply into the style you want so it copies it.
“Hello there. We'd like to confirm here that this does not affect the chat.” — u/Kevin_ND, +8
My read: A small question with a large answer about how the site works. I agree with the staff: the stars are feedback, and editing replies is the only lever that changes the conversation. The fact that a company employee answers inside the subreddit within the thread is something I saw nowhere else in this category.

A creator whose Stranger Things bot was deleted for ageing up a character who is a minor in the show posts the moderator's email and thanks the team anyway, and the thread becomes a defence of the company: a handful of people who 'actually listen', who kept the Magnum 12B model alive when users begged. A disagreement follows over size, six people by one estimate and about sixty according to the site's FAQ, and one reply reminds everyone that the company is a business, not a friend. The deletion itself, for a rule everyone accepts, is not disputed.
“There (approximately) six people who are trying their best to provide a service despite increasingly tight regulations surrounding their business.” — u/KittenHasHerMittens, +20
My read: Goodwill like this is rare in a category where Reddit usually suspects paid praise. I agree the moderation is visible and explained, and that is worth something. I partly disagree with the 'six gremlins' picture: a site with a million brand searches a month and a press office in Montreal is a company, however small its support team feels.
- r/SpicyChatAI · u/PraiseArtoriaMy experience in the last few daysI don't know if I'm imagining it, but SpicyXL generates messages that make absolutely no sense and the model doesn't feel right in general. I notice it in my private bots, I haven't changed anything. I don't think the worst thing is that my characters seem "off character" from the beginning, but the fact that the replies no longer make sense is. Rating the message badly and reloading it fixes the problem relatively quickly, but it keep happening in almost every new message. I only play with the temp sometimes, i keep it between 0,7 and 0,8 most of the time. A February 2025 complaint (27 upvotes) that SpicyXL, the house model, had started producing replies that 'make absolutely no sense' and characters that were off from the first message. Others confirm it, mention new UI problems at the same time, and suggest switching to Lyra or Magnum 72B. A staff member replies at length: All In subscribers get a minimum of 8K context on most models and 16K on specific ones, which is about 35 to 40 exchanges before the bot stops remembering, regenerations count against it, and once it is full 'expect weird things to happen'.
“On 16K memory and the highest token response, you get about 35-40 exchanges before it gets filled and your bot stops remembering things after that.” — u/Kevin_ND, +3
My read: The best explanation of the memory ceiling comes from the company's own support reply in a complaint thread. I agree with the figures: on the 16K models my scenes started drifting at roughly that point. The SpicyXL wobble was a 2025 incident; the model behaved for me in September, so I treat it as fixed rather than typical.

A former Character.AI user asks whether SpicyChat is a good free alternative. The people who have used it say yes with caveats: you must verify your age, memory 'averages out at 15 messages' on the free tier, and even paid models top out at 16K context when the same model has far more used directly. One user wrote their own out-of-character prompt to improve roleplay because the site does not allow a system prompt; another calls it 'generally better than c.ai, though the bar is rather low', has had no filter trouble, and says the age check is regional and a VPN removes it.
“Spicy is good but you'll need to verify your age. Tiers are affordable as well if you do want to pay. As long as your storylines move quickly as the memory averages out a 15 messages.” — u/TopAd1846, +2
My read: The fairest thread in the set, and I agree with its asterisks. The 16K ceiling is real and the free tier's memory is short. Where I partly disagree is the 15-message figure: within a session the staff's 35 to 40 exchanges on 16K matched my experience; across sessions, only what I pinned or put in a lorebook came back.

A creator's guide to the analytics dashboard the site added in 2026, written because 'many are showing anxiety' over bots that do not match the leaderboard. It defines requests, conversations, likes and the metric the poster says matters, average depth, the number of messages a conversation runs, and the replies trade numbers: a bot with 85 average depth, bully bots with 7,000 conversations each at a depth of 35, and a user whose best bot has half a million requests that the new chart does not show. Nine upvotes, all creators.
“Many are showing anxiety or feeling down over their bots NOT performing as well as they hoped for in ratings and chats numbers.” — u/Tight-Huckleberry240, +9
My read: Evidence of a creator economy, not a consumer complaint. I agree with the poster that depth is the honest metric: it measures whether people stay in a scene. What I read from it is that SpicyChat's library is maintained by people who track their stats, which explains why the good bots are so much better than the average.

A January 2025 thread comparing the site's models, with the body deleted and the comments intact. The consensus on SpicyXL is that it is 'really great at scenes' but 'tends to write as user quite a lot', and that nothing in the character definition stops it. The workarounds are the content: regenerate or edit the early messages to catch it before it becomes a habit, rewrite greetings so they are not acting for the user, reroll the offending message with Lyra and switch back, and tune token count and temperature. A staff member contributes the first of these.
“With SpicyXL, really great at scenes and the way it writers them is so intriguing and fresh. The only problem, it tends to write as user quite a lot” — u/Every-Ranger1926, +8
My read: Model choice on SpicyChat is a craft, and the community has written the manual. I agree that SpicyXL writes the best scenes and takes over the user's lines; the edit-early trick worked for me. Here I partly disagree with the thread's cheerfulness: a model you have to police every few replies is a cost, even without tokens.

A poster who claims to have tested more than fifty roleplay apps ranks three on five criteria. SpicyChat wins on memory and formatting, comes second on character library behind Polybuzz, and last of the three on model quality, using only the free model for the comparison. The character-restriction ranking puts it level with PovChat and freer than Polybuzz. The summary line is that Polybuzz feels like a community with dramatic bots, SpicyChat 'gives a creator vibe with lots of freedom', and PovChat is a quiet boutique. No comments, two upvotes.
“Polybuzz IMO feels like a community with the most dramatic bots, Spicychat gives a creator vibe with lots of freedom, and Povchat is like a quiet boutique for private immersive experience.” — u/Soggy-Ad9660, +2
My read: One person's scorecard, but it maps onto what I found. I agree that the free model is the weakest thing about SpicyChat and that the creator culture is the strongest. I would not rank the free-tier memory first against anything, though; that result depends on the lorebook, which takes work to set up.

Neutral · what the thread says
A July 2026 post from someone 'tired of trying to find a substitute' who wants to know how to get past the age check with a VPN they do not know how to use. The single reply, from an Australian, explains that a free Proton connection works as long as the server is not in the US, because 'America still requires you to do verification'. Zero upvotes, but it is the user-side of the VPNOverview article further down and of the autocomplete query 'spicychat age verification', and it shows the wall is pushing some users to route around it rather than leave.
“i remember America still requires you to do verification, so change it if you happen to be connected to America.” — u/EquinoxInReddit, +1
My read: Tiny thread, big signal. I agree with the premise that the age check is now the first thing many users meet. I will not recommend the workaround; what I take from it is that the people hitting the wall want to stay, which is good for the brand's demand and a risk for its regulators.
What Reddit adds up to
Reading across the 9 threads, weighted by upvotes.
Of the 9 threads I read, 1 is positive, 4 are mixed, 3 are neutral and 1 is negative.
Nine threads are about the brand once the Chai and Juicychat posts are removed. One is positive, four mixed, one negative and three neutral, and unusually for this category the brand's own subreddit is where users defend it: the most upvoted thread (51) celebrates a filter being relaxed and the second (45) is answered by a staff member.
The complaints are precise rather than angry. The character-creation filter flagged kisses and pets for a week in 2025, the bots fish for consent, SpicyXL writes the user's lines and once produced nonsense for days, context tops out at 16K even on the top tier (35 to 40 exchanges by the company's own count), there is no system prompt, and since 2026 an age check sits in front of adult bots in the US and Europe.
The praise is about the people as much as the product. Staff answer in threads, a model was kept alive because users asked, the community has written the manual for every model's quirks, and creators track their bots' analytics. The free tier is conceded to be real: unlimited messages and NSFW open, with a queue as the only cost.
What Reddit does not say matters too. Nobody complains about tokens, surprise charges or billing, which is the main complaint on every rival's subreddit, and nobody calls the praise fake. The disputes here are about model behaviour and memory, which is what you argue about when the pricing is not the problem.
What gets praised
- A company that answers inside its own subreddit and keeps models users ask for (3 threads)
- No chat filter: the roleplay itself is not refused (3 threads)
- Memory and formatting that beat the rivals in a side-by-side (1 thread)
- A creator community that documents every model's quirks and tracks its own stats (3 threads)
- Affordable tiers and a free tier that is genuinely free (2 threads)
What gets criticised
- Age verification required for adult bots in the US and Europe (3 threads)
- Memory: 15 messages on free by one estimate, 35 to 40 exchanges on 16K by the company's (2 threads)
- SpicyXL writes as the user and once degraded into nonsense for days (2 threads)
- A character-creation filter that flagged kisses and pets, and a soft filter that fishes for consent (1 thread)
- No system prompt, 16K context ceiling even on paid tiers (1 thread)

Janitor AI vs CrushOn AI vs SpicyChat: $200/mo Gap [2026]tech-insider.org · September 6, 2026Mixed · what the article says
A three-way comparison with Janitor AI and CrushOn whose useful contribution is a taxonomy: Janitor's 'no filter' is a visibility toggle over whatever model you connect, while CrushOn and SpicyChat build NSFW into the product. SpicyChat 'goes further' than CrushOn by allowing NSFW on the free tier, 'unusual in this category'. It notes that all three rely on self-certified age at sign-up and that Australian regulators are taking an interest; the readable part stops before SpicyChat's own pricing section.
My take: I agree with the taxonomy and with the free-tier point, which is SpicyChat's real edge over CrushOn. The self-certification line is already dated for SpicyChat: in the UK, France, Italy and half the US it now asks for a video selfie or an ID.
SpicyChat review: our unfiltered take on the leading AI roleplay platformrealite-virtuelle.com · June 13, 2026Positive · what the article says
A hands-on review that calls it 'one of the strongest free options' for unrestricted roleplay and sends video-first users to Candy AI or CrushOn instead. It lists more than 200,000 characters, 2026 additions of multilingual mode, group chats and lorebooks (8,000 memory tokens, 16,000 context on premium), its own uncensored models, image uploads the bot reacts to, realistic premium voices and live voice calls for selected users. Its cons: the app was removed from Apple's App Store, and the free plan has long waits at peak hours.
My take: I agree with the verdict and the two cons. I disagree on voice: on my plan the text-to-speech was flat and often failed to play, the weakest feature I tried, and I never saw a voice call. The lorebook and settings advice is sound.

SpicyChat announces the launch of its multilingual modeYahoo Finance · April 1, 2026Positive · what the article says
A paid press release (CNW, Montreal, April 2026) announcing a multilingual mode with 12 languages. Its value is the corporate facts: operated by NextDay AI, a Canadian startup founded in 2023; 100 million users claimed 28 months after launch; a place in Andreessen Horowitz's 2025 list of the 20 most-used AI tools; group chats and lorebooks launched in early 2026. The head of marketing, Brandon Feiden, is quoted on growth among non-English users.
My take: Company copy, useful for the operator, the city and the date. I take the 100 million users as registrations, not active users; the traffic numbers I track are consistent with a very large audience but not that one.
How to bypass Spicychat AI age verification in 2026VPNOverview.com · March 24, 2026Neutral · what the article says
A VPN affiliate guide that documents a real change: since early 2026 SpicyChat requires age verification, by video selfie or government ID, before adult content in France, Italy, the UK and 25 US states including Texas and Florida. Non-adult bots stay open without it. The author tested from the UK, hit the prompt on the first adult bot, and recommends routing through Canada or Ireland, where no check applies. The rest is a Proton VPN sales pitch.
My take: The clearest account of the age wall anywhere, and I agree it is as described: a prompt on the first adult bot, not at sign-up. I will not endorse the workaround; what matters is that half the US market now meets an ID check before the product it searched for.

The Problem with SpicyChat AI and the Illusion of ConsentAutoGPT · August 8, 2025Could not read
This page blocks automated readers, so I have only the headline: an essay on SpicyChat and 'the illusion of consent'.

Spicychat AI Review: NSFW Roleplay Chat & AlternativesGreenbot · July 10, 2025Positive · what the article says
An affiliate-disclosed review in a breathless register ('your new secret addiction') that nonetheless records some specifics: 138,000 characters at the time, NSFW open to free users, waits at peak, a DreamShaper image tool with 'minor delays' and 'occasional glitches in audio', semantic memory, and no official mobile apps, with the site working through mobile browsers. It claims encrypted conversations throughout and calls privacy 'the priority, always'.
My take: I agree on the free-tier facts and the browser-only mobile route. The privacy reassurance is marketing: the company's own policy and the Companion Rater review say chats train the models, and encryption in transit is not the same as nobody reading them.

The Future of Conversation: How to Make Interactive AI Personas on SpicyChatVocal · May 10, 2025Positive · what the article says
Published under the byline 'SpicyChat Ai', so this is the company writing about itself on a user-generated platform. Useful details survive the boilerplate: a library of more than 850,000 bots as of May 2025, a guest mode, and advice to keep a character definition between 900 and 1,100 tokens, plus confirmation that context memory and the number of user personas scale with the subscription tier and that conversation images and text-to-speech exist.
My take: Brand-authored, so I use it for facts, not judgement. The 900 to 1,100 token guidance matches what the best community bots do, and the persona limit by tier is real; I agree with the documentation and ignore the futurism.
Spicychat Ai Review: Mod Apk and App ChatbotVocal · November 1, 2024Positive · what the article says
A 2024 overview titled for 'mod APK' searches that describes customisable characters, emotional depth, image and voice responses, 14 languages, and a free tier with premium adding persona slots and priority. It claims compliance with GDPR, CCPA and HIPAA and SSL encryption, and says the platform 'takes user privacy seriously'. Pros and cons are generic; the con it names is that advanced features need a subscription.
My take: I disagree with the compliance list: HIPAA has nothing to do with a roleplay chat site, and repeating it tells me the article was assembled from marketing copy. The title is the useful part, as evidence that 'spicychat apk' searches have been drawing content farms for two years.
What the press adds up to
Reading across the 7 articles I could open.
Of the 7 articles I read, 5 are positive, 1 is mixed, 1 is neutral and none is negative.
Of eight articles, seven could be read and five come out positive, one mixed and one neutral. Independence is the problem: one positive is a paid press release, one is written by the company itself under its own byline, two carry affiliate disclosures, and the 2024 overview repeats a HIPAA compliance claim that makes no sense for a chat site. The one critical headline, on 'the illusion of consent', is on a page I could not read.
What the usable pieces agree on: NSFW open on the free tier, which no close rival matches; a library in the hundreds of thousands (138,000 in mid-2025, 200,000 to 850,000 depending on the source and date); its own uncensored models; lorebooks and a 16K context on premium; 2026 additions of group chat and 12 languages; and queues on the free plan at peak hours.
The two findings I weight most are the ones nobody sells. VPNOverview documents the age wall: video selfie or ID before adult bots in the UK, France, Italy and 25 US states since early 2026. And realite-virtuelle notes the iOS app was removed from the App Store, which explains the 'spicychat app' and 'apk' searches and the content farms feeding on them.

- A community library in the hundreds of thousands (4 articles)
- Lorebooks, semantic memory and a 16K context on premium (2 articles)
- Its own uncensored models instead of a filtered wrapper (2 articles)
- Group chats and a 12-language mode added in 2026 (2 articles)
What gets criticised
- Age verification by selfie or ID before adult content in the UK, France, Italy and 25 US states (1 article; the comparison piece still says self-certified)
- No iOS app since its App Store removal, browser only on iPhone (2 articles)
- Long waits on the free plan at peak hours (2 articles)

How Google’s AI describes it
The AI Overview Google showed for a US search of "spicychat.ai" on October 7, 2026, quoted as is.
SpicyChat.ai is an online AI chatbot platform built for unrestricted romantic, fantasy, and adult roleplay without automated refusal triggers. Key Features Unfiltered Content: Allows both safe-for-work (SFW) and intense NSFW (Not Safe For Work) conversations without strict lecturing or content blocks. Character Creation: Users can build custom AI personas and chatbots with detailed backstories, definitions, and distinct traits. Advanced Memory: Utilizes context windows and semantic memory features to help virtual partners recall past events, inside jokes, and relationship dynamics over long stories. Multimodal Options: Supports features like image generation, multimodal vision for uploads,…
Google cited: WebCatalog, YouTube, Reddit, YouTube
How AI systems regard it: my take
Why this matters: a growing share of people never click a result. They read Google's summary, or ask an assistant, and decide from that. The overview above is the brand as Google's AI currently understands it, and it is the version most newcomers meet first.
The framing is 'unrestricted roleplay without automated refusal triggers' first, then character creation, semantic memory and multimodal options. That is almost word for word the affiliate explainer it cites as a source, so here the AI summary is tracking a sales video rather than the users. The Reddit guide it also cites is a creator's how-to, which at least reflects the community.
One claim I disagree with from my own test: 'without automated refusal triggers' is true of the chat and false of the product. The character-creation filter flagged a description of mine, the bots fish for consent until told not to, and the first adult bot I opened asked for age verification. The overview also does not mention that image generation is weak and voice barely works, which both reviews it does not cite agree on.
What people type into Google before they sign up
Google's own suggestions after "spicychat" and the related searches Google Trends ranks highest over the last 12 months, retrieved October 7, 2026.
These are the questions people have before they sign up, in their own words. I group them by what they tell me, because the mix says more than any single search: a brand searched mostly with “free” has a different audience from one searched with “review”.
| Theme | Searches | What it tells me |
|---|---|---|
| Features people want | "spicychat ai", "spicychat login", "spicychat age verification", "spicychat commands" | Which parts of the product people search for by name: what they have heard about, or what they could not find inside. |
| Apps and where to get it | "spicychat app", "spicychat app download", "spicychat ai download" | People expect a mobile app. Where none exists, these searches end at clones and look-alike domains. |
| Price and free access | "spicychat apk", "spicychat coupon", "spicychat coupon code" | People want a way in without paying. Whether the free tier is usable decides whether they sign up. |

Google Trends “rising” related queries; “Breakout” means growth over 5,000%.
My take
The app that does not exist dominates the searches. Six of the ten autocomplete queries are 'app', 'apk', 'app download', 'ai download', 'download android' and the rest, and 'spicychat app' is a top related query in Trends with 18,100 US searches a month on its own. The iOS app was removed from the App Store, so those searches end at the browser or at modded APKs from content farms, two of which are in the press list above. From my test the browser on a phone is fine and the APKs are not worth the risk.
Price and permission come next. 'Coupon', 'coupon code' and 'ai coupon' are three of the ten, which fits a brand whose users already know it is cheap and want it cheaper, and 'age verification' is now an autocomplete term in its own right, which is the 2026 age wall showing up in demand. 'Commands' is the power-user tail: people learning the slash commands and out-of-character prompts that Reddit uses to steer the models.
The rising searches are rivals, and they are companion sites with pictures: darlink, uncensy, virtualover, ourdream, saucepan and lurvessa. The top related terms are still Janitor and Character.AI, its real peers. So SpicyChat is compared with roleplay sites by the people who use it and with image-led girlfriend sites by the people shopping around, and the second group is exactly who its weak images would lose.

How much traffic SpicyChat gets, and where it ranks
How I track this: search-traffic estimates miss direct visits, apps and social, so for all-traffic reach I use Tranco, a daily ranking of every domain on the internet built from DNS and browser data (Cloudflare Radar, Cisco Umbrella, Majestic, Farsight and Chrome), and I check it against Google’s own Chrome UX Report each month. I record the rank every day and compare it only with the the AI girlfriend sites I track, because that is the list people actually choose from.
On the Tranco list of October 6, 2026, spicychat.ai ranked #6,952 among every domain worldwide, up 55 places since August 31, 2026, and Chrome's data puts it in the top 5,000 most visited sites. Among the AI girlfriend sites I track, that makes it #15, behind FantasyGF and CrushOn AI.

What the numbers tell me about SpicyChat
First the facts, each one derived from the table above and nothing else. Then the story I read in them.
The facts
| Finding | Detail |
|---|---|
| Traffic down 1% on the month | Estimated organic search traffic in September 2026 was 2,411,388 visits worldwide, -0.9% versus August 2026 and +29.0% versus September 2025. |
| Peak of 2.4M in Aug 26 | The 24-month peak was 2,433,542 visits in August 2026; traffic is now -0.9% from that peak. |
| 28% of visits come from the United States | The United States accounts for 677,277 visits, followed by India and Indonesia. |
| 1.0M people a month search the brand name in the US | Google Ads data puts US searches for "spicychat" at about 1,000,000 a month in August 2026 (+48.6% since September 2025), and worldwide searches at about 4,090,000. |
| 59% of top-keyword traffic is branded | 59% of the traffic from the top 10 US keywords comes from people typing the brand name, which indicates a meaningful share of visits from generic, non-branded searches. |
| 4.1K referring domains, Domain Rating 72 | 4,131 websites link to spicychat.ai, +89.1% over the last 12 months; its Domain Rating by Ahrefs is 72 and its DataForSEO domain rank is 62 (68 a year ago). |
| #15 among the AI girlfriend sites I track | SpicyChat sits #15 among the sites I track on the combined data; it holds no tracked position for "ai girlfriend", so its reach across the internet carries more of the weight. Among all domains on the internet it ranks 6,952th in the Tranco list of October 6, 2026, up 55 places since August 31, 2026; Google's Chrome UX Report places it in the top 5,000 most visited sites worldwide. |
| YouTube sells SpicyChat as the no-tokens, no-filter roleplay site; the honest reviews agree and mark down the images and the privacy | Of the 7 most-watched videos whose transcripts I read, 3 are positive, 4 are neutral walkthroughs with no verdict and none is negative. The two YouTube reviews with a test behind them both come out in favour, for unlimited no-token chat and loose filters, and both mark down the images and the vague privacy; the rest of the videos are tutorials and affiliate filler. |
My take: the story in the numbers
What moved, and why I think it moved: the numbers read together, with the reviews in hand.
This is the most name-driven site I track, and the name keeps growing. 'spicychat' alone is 823,000 US searches a month and the brand's combined terms ('spicy chat ai', 'spicy ai', 'spicy ai chatbot', 'spice ai chat') add another 477,000; brand demand stepped from 673,000 in September 2025 to 823,000 in October and to 1,000,000 in July and August 2026. Google Trends tells the same story at five-year scale: the name hit its all-time high in October 2026. Almost none of its traffic comes from generic terms (it is #58 for 'ai chat' and not in the top 20 for 'ai girlfriend'), so the traffic line here is a demand line, not a ranking line.
The traffic followed the demand, with one wobble. Worldwide organic visits went from 781,000 in October 2024 to 1.87 million in September 2025, 2.16 million in January 2026, then slipped to 1.64 million in June and 1.57 million in July before jumping to 2.43 million in August, a new peak, and 2.41 million in September, up 29% on a year earlier. The US series matches: 451,000 in June, 677,000 in September, its highest ever.
The June and July dip lines up with the age wall, and the August jump with the name. Age verification by selfie or ID arrived in early 2026 in 25 US states and three European countries; the Reddit threads asking how to get round it are from late July, and the US traffic trough is June and July. Then brand searches rose to a million in July and August and traffic followed within weeks. My read: the wall cost some visits for a quarter, and a new wave of people typing the name, most plausibly Character.AI users after another tightening, more than replaced them. 'crushon ai' and 'janitor' sit beside it in the related queries, which is the exodus route.
The link profile is cleaning itself. Referring domains grew from 641 in October 2024 to 4,131 in September 2026, more than six times, and never fell in a single month. Backlinks went the other way: a jump from 15,000 to 586,000 in December 2024, a peak of 1.98 million in November 2025, then a slide to 913,000 by September 2026, less than half. More domains and fewer links means sitewide placements and link farms dropping off while real coverage keeps arriving, which is the healthy version of this pattern and the opposite of CrushOn's.
What people say explains why demand and reputation move together here. The praise, unlimited free chat with no tokens, open NSFW, a creator community and staff who answer, is what gets a site recommended on refugee subreddits, and that is where the brand searches come from. The complaints, 16K memory, SpicyXL's habits, weak images, the age wall, are reasons to run a second site alongside it, not to leave, which is why the rising rival queries (darlink, ourdream, uncensy) are image-led companion sites rather than roleplay rivals.
Verdict. Growing on every indicator I have: traffic up 29% year on year and at its peak, brand searches at a million, referring domains up six times, Tranco improving to 6,952 and #15 of the AI girlfriend sites I track. The two things that could bend the line are regulatory, more states and countries adding ID checks, and a competitor giving Character.AI refugees a better landing. If brand searches hold at a million through the autumn, the August peak becomes the new base; if they fall back to 823,000, the age wall is biting harder than the summer numbers suggest.

Brand searches are the best demand signal I have: nobody types a brand name unless they already know it. Google Ads rounds volumes into bands, so flat stretches are normal.

In short
What I learned, and what I expect next
Pulling it together, from my own paid test, from what users say, and from my indicators: SpicyChat is growing right now. Here is the whole picture in a few lines, then the scorecard behind it.
How it is performing
SpicyChat drew an estimated 2,411,388 visits from Google search in September 2026, -0.9% on August 2026 and +29.0% on a year earlier. Over the last quarter the trend is growing (+21.6% against the three months before). Counting all traffic, it is #15 among the AI girlfriend sites I track, behind FantasyGF and CrushOn AI.
Reading the trend with the reviews in hand: the traffic line is at its own peak and it is a demand line, because almost every visit arrives by name. What people praise (no tokens, open NSFW on the free tier, the creator library, staff who answer on Reddit) is exactly what earns a recommendation on a refugee subreddit, and that is where the million monthly brand searches come from. What they criticise (16K memory, SpicyXL's habits, weak images and voice, the age wall) sends them to a second site for pictures rather than away, which is why the rising rival queries are image-led companion sites. The one thing to watch is regulation: the June and July dip coincides with the age wall, and more jurisdictions are coming.
What changed
Brand demand is the standout: about 1,000,000 US searches a month (+48.6% year on year) and 4,090,000 worldwide. Demand and traffic are rising together, which is the healthiest pattern there is. In popularity terms it has climbed 55 places since August 31, 2026. Links are still being earned (+89.1% in 12 months). On the reputation side: of the 7 most-watched videos whose transcripts I read, 3 are positive, 4 are neutral walkthroughs with no verdict and none is negative. The two YouTube reviews with a test behind them both come out in favour, for unlimited no-token chat and loose filters, and both mark down the images and the vague privacy; the rest of the videos are tutorials and affiliate filler. Reddit is warmer to SpicyChat than to any rival I have read: four of nine threads are mixed and only one negative, the complaints are about memory limits, SpicyXL's habits and the new age check, and nobody complains about tokens or billing.
What I expect
With demand, traffic and links moving the same way, I expect SpicyChat to keep gaining ground over the next few months. The thing that would change my mind is a month-on-month drop that repeats, which is why I refresh these figures monthly. 3 of its 8 closest search rivals currently get more US search traffic than it does, which is the gap to watch.

What I will check next month
- Whether September 2026’s traffic figure held, rose or fell once the next month is in.
- Whether US brand searches move out of the 1.0M band they have sat in.
- Whether the Tranco rank keeps the direction it showed over the last 30 days.
- Whether the rival names rising next to it in Google Trends (darlink, ourdream, ourdream ai) keep climbing while its own searches hold.

Part 7 · Method
How I measured all this
I bought a SpicyChat membership and tested it myself, and I come at the write-up as a data researcher. Everything on this page is measured, because the whole point of this site is to rank AI girlfriend platforms by real usage and interest rather than by anyone’s taste, and every brand page uses the same indicators in the same order so they can be compared. I pulled every figure on October 7, 2026.
- Traffic, keywords, backlinks, competitors, WHOIS
- From DataForSEO, refreshed monthly. “Organic traffic” is an estimate of visits from Google results, modelled from the keywords a site ranks for. It leaves out direct visits, app traffic, paid ads and social referrals, so the real audience is bigger; that is why I also show an all-traffic popularity rank.
- Brand search volume
- Google Ads keyword data via DataForSEO. Google rounds these into bands, which is why months often repeat the same figure.
- Domain Rating
- Domain Rating by Ahrefs, a 100-point measure of backlink strength, published under Ahrefs’ Domain Rating license. The DataForSEO domain rank is a separate 100-point backlink score.
- Popularity rank
- The Tranco list, an academic ranking of the top million domains built from DNS and browser data; a rank, not a visit count. The Chrome UX Report tier is Google's own popularity bucket from real Chrome users.
- Trends, videos, forums, press, search suggestions
- Google Trends is relative interest on a 0 to 100 scale, not a count. News, YouTube, Reddit and autocomplete data come through SerpApi from public Google and YouTube results; video views are summed across the videos I found. For the most-watched videos I also pull the caption transcript through SerpApi, read it in full, and write a short account of what the video says plus my own conclusion; videos without captions are listed by title only. For Reddit I read each thread Google surfaces directly from reddit.com in a browser, record its upvotes, comment count and top comments as they stood that day, screenshot the post as it is publicly visible, and classify it after reading; threads with no analysis yet are listed by title. Press articles are read in full and classified the same way; pages that block automated readers are marked as unread. The category search check is a live Google result for the category's own term (United States, desktop) via DataForSEO. Discord counts come from the server's public invite page.
- Hands-on testing
- I purchased a SpicyChat membership and used the product myself: chat, memory, images and the paid extras. My own test tells me what each feature does; the verdict on each feature comes from what users publish, because for a brand this size their view is more grounded than one reviewer's.
- Rounding and independence
- Figures are rounded for display; charts show the exact values. Top AI Girlfriends is not affiliated with DataForSEO, Ahrefs, SerpApi, Google, or SpicyChat.
Part 8 · Final verdict
One last word on SpicyChat
SpicyChat is the free, no-tokens roleplay site, and a month with it convinced me that is enough to be second in the category. NSFW is open on the free tier with unlimited messages, the paid tiers are flat subscriptions with no meter, the character library is the largest I have used, and the company answers its users inside its own subreddit. Demand matches it: a million US searches for the name a month, the brand's all-time high on Google Trends, and traffic at its own peak.
It is also a text site that stops at 16K. The context ceiling is 35 to 40 exchanges by the company's own count, so long scenes need a lorebook and pinned memories; SpicyXL writes your lines for you until you edit it out; the images are weak, the voice barely works, and since early 2026 the first adult bot you open in half of America asks for a selfie or an ID. The praise is about freedom and price; the complaints are about memory and everything that is not text.
Who should pick it: anyone who wants unlimited uncensored roleplay for free or for $5 to $25 a month without ever thinking about tokens, likes community-made characters and is willing to learn the models' quirks. Who should not: anyone who wants images, voice or a single companion with long memory, anyone unwilling to pass an age check, and anyone who needs an iPhone app.
Where it stands today: #15 of the AI girlfriend sites I track, growing on my scorecard with traffic 29% up year on year and at its peak, brand demand at a million searches a month, and a reputation that is warm on Reddit, warm in a press that is rarely independent, and honest on YouTube about the images. If the age wall spreads without denting the brand searches, it stays where it is; if a rival gives the next wave of Character.AI refugees a better landing, the demand line that carries everything here would be the first to show it.
